Special Police Advisers

To assist the Advisers in their study and to process their recomm- endations and take follow up action.

The Advisers have produced 21 consultative documents, 18 of these documents, together with the CP's comments, have been discussed by a Special Police Steering Group chaired by the Governor or CS. The recommendations are being processed by a Police Working Group and/or a Secretariat Working Group.

As a result of the Advisers' recommendations:

i)

PHQ has been restructured

and 11 new posts have been created. DCP and SACP appointed. ACP/ Training and CSB/District under offer of appointment. 3 posts filled by local appointments.

ii) Staff Relations Unit has been created and staffed.

iii) CID HQ and Identification Bureau have been strengthened. iv) CCTV and Printing Machines have been approved. Increased staff for Training Wing have been approved. v) Increased allocation of public housing to married R & F has been approved.

To process as quickly as possible. the remaining consultative documents produced by the Advisers in accordance with the directions given by the SPSG.

To continue to monitor imple- mentation and to give

preliminary consideration to Mr.Crane's follow-up visit.

To fill the remaining 4 PHQ posts (2 CSP District (Admin),

1 CSP (Complaints and Discipline) 1 SSP (Management)

To put in hand a review of Uniform Branch coverage, and to investigate the work load of CID Districts.

To consider housing needs of local inspectors and gazetted officers in the context of a service wide review of Civil Service housing policies.
