Purpose
To amend the definition
of "industrial undertaking" to make it clear that it not only embraces the various industrial activities it specifies, but also the premises in and plants with which they are carried out.
To ensure workers' safety at construction sites.

Following the enactment of this Ordinance, 5 sets of existing regulations under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance which were affected,
were made by the
Commissioner for Labour
on 7.7.78.
These
Regulations were approved by resolution of the Legislative Council on 19.7.78.
Draft Regulations
finalised.
Since the principal legislation was re-enacted on 19.7.78 it is considered appropriate to defer this item to the beginning of the next session of the Legislative Council.
The Labour Advisory Board agreed on 16.3.78 that these Regulations should be made. instructions under preparation.
