Land Production Programme

To provide up-to-date information on the present and future availability of land for all purposes in a programme to be established and in operation by the end of 1978.
(a) CSC has agreed the formation of a strategic planning unit in Environment Branch. Staff request has been made to Finance Branch and request for provision to initiate recruiting procedures has been made to CSB.
(b) LDPC at a special meeting in
August considered new development areas. In October the Committee discussed revised data on land production from existing development programmes.
(c) In October, the Special Committee
on Land Production reviewed the position on potential development areas.
(d) A draft PWSC paper has been
prepared recommending the appointment of consultants to investigate the development potential of six of the areas identified suitable for development in the New Territories.
(a) Strategic
Planning Unit : (i) initiate
recruiting
procedures
pending approval of posts;
(ii) devise, in
consultation with other departments
and perhaps with outside advice, main programme
of unit's work.
(b) Obtain PWSC approval
for consultants investigations.
(c) Convene steering
group to finalise consultants' brief for development investigations.
(d) Tender consultancy.
