Comment: A Stage III of the Secondary School Building Programme has been approved and incorporated into this table.
The approved policy as set out in the 1978 White Paper on the Development of Senior and Tertiary Education is texpand subsidised places in senior secondary forms to the full extent of demand from suitable students by the early 1980s. The aim is tincrease the number of subsidized school places for Form III leavers to about 57,000 to provide for 60% of the 15 year-old population September 1981 and over 70% by September 1986. These targets will be incorporated into the table when the financial resources for thei implementation have been approved.
