Advisers

To process the recommendations of the Police Advisers and to implement consequential decisions.

The Advisers have produced 21 consultative documents, 18 of them together with the CP's comments, have been discussed by a Special Police Steering Group chaired by the Governor or CS. The recommendations have been processed by a Police Working Group and/or a Secretariat Working Group, and follow up action continues. As a result of the Advisers' recommendations :

i) PHQ has been restructured and 11 new posts have been created. DCP,SACP, ACP/Training, 1 CSP/ District appointed. 4 posts filled by local appointments.

ii) Staff Relations Unit has been created and staffed.

iii) CID HQ and Identification Bureau have been strengthened.

iv) Workload of CID Districts has been completed.

v)

CCTV and Printing Machines have been approved. Increased staff for Training Wirg have been approved

To process as quickly as possible the residual matters from the consultative documents produced by the Advisers in accordance with the directions given by the SPSG. To continue to monitor implementation and to make preparations for a follow- up visit by Mr.Crane in 1979.

To fill the remaining 3 PHQ posts (2 CSP District (Admin), 1 SSP (Management Services). To strengthen the new Management Services Wing by the creation of additional posts.

To continue a review of Uniform Branch

coverage.

Results of study are being analysed and PHQ will be consulted.
