SHORTHAND-AUDIO TYPISTS

There have been no further developments related

exclusively to the Shorthand Audio Typists Association

which is now co-operating with the three other Secretarial

Class staff associations and with Government on a new

Secretarial Class structure and pay review. The

gravamen of the staff dispute has been removed.

ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS RECRUITMENT 1978

The recruitment exercises conducted in Hong Kong

and London have resulted in the appointment of 27 new

Administrative Officers, of whom 18 are local and 9 are

expatriate. Of the 18 local appointees, 16 have already

reported for duty and have been posted, while the

remaining 2 will report for duty in January 1979.

the 9 overseas appointees, 5 will arrive in Hong Kong

for the language course in late November 1978, and the

rest are expected to report for duty in about January 1979.

As regards recruitment of experienced officers

in 1978-79, Harbinson and Frost have arrived, Mason,

Shipley and Wotherspoon will report for duty in January

1979 and Taylor in March 1979. In addition, Mr M. Mak,

CEO, has been accepted for trial as AO/SGC.

Thus by the end of 1978-79, a total of 34

Administrative Officers will have been recruited for the

year comprising 19 local and 15 overseas officers.
