Notes for Appendix A5

1.

2.

Between 1972/73 and 1977/78, the housing stock in

the private sector increased by 24% from 334,000

to 414,000 flats.

Over the next two years, production will be in the

order of 30,000 flats per annum.

Subsequently,

production is expected to be not less than about

20,000 flats per annum. The stock of private

housing should thus increase from 414,000 flats in

1977/78 to 560,000 flats by 1984/85.

3.

However, it is possible that the private sector

could be stimulated to maintain the high level of

production expected to be achieved in 1978/79 and

1979/80. A major consideration on this account will

be to produce more land for development.
