the general environment of the older estates
by the initiation of improvement schemes and
increased maintenance. Expenditure on
improvements and maintenance totalled $278M
(at constant 1977/78 prices) between 1972/73
and 1977/78 and over the next 7 years between
1978/79 and 1984/85 should go up to $1,300 M.
