(a) Expand the number of general and specialised

hospital beds from 20,098 (4.4 per thousand

population) in 1978/79 to 29, 249 in 1985/86

(5.8 per thousand population).

(b) Increase the number of out-patient clinics

from 52 in 1978/79 to 66 by 1985/86 and the

number of consulting rooms in them from 249

(5.4 per 100,000 population) in 1978/79

to 394 (7.8 per 100,000 population) by 1985/86.

(c) Expand maternity and child health, family

planning, immunisation and health education

programmes.

Increase

number of psychiatric beds from 1331

to 4555, and psychiatric day beds from 100 to

400, and beds for mentally retarded from 200

to 703 all by 1985/86.

Establish a second medical school to open in

1981 and a dental school to open in 1980.

(g) Open two more nurse training schools by 1982

and a dental nurse training school in 1978.

Introduce training courses at the Polytechnic for

para-medical staff.
