of the Establishment and those likely to suffer from ICAC might well start a smear campaign to imply that Judge Yang himself is corrupt; alternatively, hostile interests might try to corrupt him. Clearly Sir M MacLehose would not be considering him if he did not believe in his absolute probity; and if there are any risks of the sort I have described then I think we could recognise them but not necessarily be deterred. As Sir M MacLehose's own preference is for Judge Yang, I think we might give him a steer in this direction.
