I have the honour to refer to paragraph (b) of section 19(1) of the Constitution of Bermuda and to inform you that Her i.ajesty has been pleased to give instructions that Gerald Lavid Bartin Collett Esquire (C, Attorney-General of Bermuda, or, in the event that ir Collett is absent or cannot act, the Honourable James Astwood, the Chief Justice of Bermuda, is designated to assume and perform during Her Fajesty's pleasure the functions of the office of Governor if at any time that office is vacant, or the persons holding the offices of Governor and Deputy Governor are absent from Bermuda or are for any other reason unable to perform the functions of the office of Governor.
