Pursuant to the provisions of Article 5(1)(a) of the British Honduras Letters Patent 1964 as amended by Article 2 of the British Honduras Letters Patent 1968 and Article 2 of the British Honduras Letters Patent 1973, Her Majesty The Queen is pleased to designate the person who holds the office of Financial Secretary to assume and perform during Her Majesty's pleasure the functions of the office of Governor of Belize if at any time the office of Governor is vacant or the holder of that office is absent from Belize or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of the office of Governor. If in the aforementioned circumstances the Financial Secretary is or becomes for any reason unable to assume and perform the said functions of the office of Governor, then The Queen is pleased to designate the Speaker of the House of Representatives to assume and perform during Her Majesty's pleasure the functions of the office of Governor.
