The use of The Queen's effigy on coins is to be limited

to coins that are:

genuine fiscal issue

of legal tender in the country of origin

in public circulation

encashable at any time within the issuing territory

at their current face value

The effigy of The Queen is to be confined to one of the

three versions approved for use on coins.

The effigy of any other living person should not appear

on a coin carrying an effigy of The Queen.

The reverse side should not carry designs of a partisan kind.

They might, however, carry representations of historical figures.

3. Design of a coin should be submitted to the Foreign and

Commonwealth Office for Her Majesty's approval to be obtained.
