Primary propose of the mint is to produce Canada's circulatory

coinage. However, since it became a Crown Corporation in 1969, it

has been given the responsibility and authority to take on other

business for the purpose of making a profit. In recent years the

mint has been awarded a number of overseas contracts for numismatic

coins and is used extensively by such marketing companies as

Paramount and World Coin. The higher quality of the mint's

numismatic coins is widely acknowledged.
