You should by now have received a despatch from the Secretary of State dated 12 September 1978 listing the posts for which his approval is required under the provision of CK 19 for appointments and promotions.
2.
In compiling this despatch note was taken of your Tel No 728 of 11 September 1978 suggesting that among other things the post of Deputy Commandant of Folice should be excluded from the list. Ilowever, after 1 Leptember 1979 when this post will no longer be a British appointment we consider that the post of Deputy Commandant of Police (Police Mobile Unit) should, as an Anglo/French appointment be referred. I should be grateful if you would acknowledge your agreement to this.
