I have the honour to refer to Mrs Gregory's letter HKA431/8 of 31 July and to the subsequent exchange of telegrams about the posts for which my approval is required under the provisions of Colonial Regulation 19 for appointments and promotions.
With effect from the date of this despatch, my approval will be needed only for appointments and promotions to the following
posts:-
Government Secretary Colonial Treasurer
Administrator (Ascension Island) Administrator (Tristan da Cunha
Legal Adviser
Chief of Police
(Ascension Island
Government Auditor
Chief Justice
It is suggested that you should now consider changing the title of the post of Legal Adviser to Attorney-General, to conform with the titles of posts with similar functions in other Dependent Territories, In the event of this being implemented the post of Attorney-General would replace that of Legal Adviser
in the list above.
