LIST OF SENIOR BRITISH EXPATRIATE OFFICERS SERVING IN
DEPENDENT TERRITORIES
1. I should be grateful if you would arrange for me to receive, as soon as may be convenient, your list of senior British expatriate officers for inclusion in the 1979 edition.
2. It occurs to me that the usefulness of the List, at least in its present form may be somewhat limited. While we would not wish to deprive you of it if it really does get used, it would be useful to know whether you consider it a valuable work of reference or whether it just gathers dust until replaced by the next edition. If the general view is that the List is indeed useful, I shall arrange for the 1979 edition to be printed and distributed as usual. If however recipients of this letter feel that it has outlived its usefulness, it will be suppressed, with some saving to the FCO printing bill.
3. I should be grateful for your views, either with or in advance of your contribution for the 1979 edition. Please send your contribu- tion as usual even if you feel that the List is no longer necessary in your Territory, as we shall certainly produce something shorter for restricted circulation in the Dependent Territories departments of the Office if we suppress the List itself.
