DEPENDENT TERRITORIES SENIOR APPOINTMENTS BOARD:
HM COMMISSIONER
ANGUILLA
1. At their meeting on 17 November 1977 the Dependent Territories Senior Appointments Board were unable to recommend to the Secretary of State a suitable candidate to replace Mr D F B Le Breton as HM Commissioner, Anguilla. The proposed candidate Mr J C Strong was considered suitable but he would not be available for posting until May 1978 and it is now considered necessary to relieve Mr Le Breton earlier than this. Since the Board met, Mr Strong has been put forward as a candidate for another appointment and it has been necessary to look for an alternative candidate to replace Mr Le Breton.
2. Mr Charles Henry Godden at present serving as Head of Chancery in Kingston is considered suitable for this difficult appointment. He is currently on leave in UK and if his appointment was agreed arrangements could be put in hand for him to be transferred directly to Anguilla. The Minister on the Board agrees this proposal. It is therefore proposed, unless Members of the Board see any objection, to submit a recommendation to the Secretary of State that Mr Godden's name should go forward to The Queen for appointment as HM Commissioner, Anguilla. A cv for Mr Godden and the Job Description for the post
are attached.
