N Godden, it has just occurred to me, is only number 272 on the latest, seniorts list: before he is given accelerated promotion into this job, I hope we can be swe that the claims of the 271 above him have been duly considered (as no. 224 on the same list, I declare a pesonal interest - although I don't serously see myself as a candidate for this job). Otherwise there could be some staff-side come back. But this will no doubt come out when his promotion Igoes to the 102 Board.
