Thank you for your letter of 14 July to hobin McLaren who is at present on leave. I have looked into the reasons for the omission of a cloak from the uniform supplied to you last year. I am afraid it was not just an oversight: cloaks or great- coats are no longer provided as part of official uniforms either for Ambassadors of Governors, even for those serving in countries with iberian winters. The reason is of course the usual one of economy: the tailors estimate is at least 180 for a cloak.

2. I am sorry that we cannot do more about this. We look forward to meeting you when you come to london in (eptember, by which time of course you will have had the Inspector's visit and this may well have highlighted a number of points for discussion.
