- any comments?

The Chief Clerk has now approved the programme,

with the inclusion of the Gilberts and New Hebrides. As you suggested in your minute of 7 July, I have drafted letters to the Resident Commissioner and the Governor respectively (attached). I shall be glad to know if you have any

comments or anything to add.

2.

The CSD have already said that they wish to send

their allowances inspector with the DS team to the New Hebrides. I am checking with them whether they wish us to send the appropriate forms, as in the draft, or whether they will wish to do it themselves. In that case the draft will need amending. They will not be coming to the Gilberts, and I assume that no allowances inspection is necessary. however, Hong Kong & General Department have any comments on this aspect, or wish us to say anything in particular to the two Posts in question, I shall be glad if they will suggest forms of words.

3.

If,

I should like to get the letters off before 15 September.
