JONFIDENCE
C
The Chief Secretary of Hong Kong (Denys Roberts, who was formerly Attorney General and will become Chief Justice next spring) plans to be in London in early November and would be available to interview any promising candidates. He would also be willing to ask the present Attorney General to come to London if that were thought useful (and I understand that the latter could come either next week or some time after 2 October). I should therefore be grateful if you could let me have any sugges- tions fairly early next month, so that we can pass them on to Denys Roberts in good time.
6. I am told that the Chief Secretary has written to Wilfrid Bourne asking for advice on how best to go about finding suitable candidates from among practising members of the Bar.
