Dear Hong Kong and General Department,'
We attach a notification of one vacancy for District Judge. On the advice of the Judicial Service Commission, we recommend that Mr. Eric Charles BARNES, Senior Magistrate, be appointed to fill the vacancy.

As in the usual practice with appointments to judicial and legal posts at this level, officers in the Judiciary, the Legal Department, the Registrar General's Department and the Legal Aid Department are eligible for consideration. In accordance with the usual custom, the Chief Justice consulted the Attorney General, the Registrar General and the Director of Legal Aid to ascertain whether there are officers in their departments whom they might wish to nominate for consideration.
