I have now had another look at these papes, and revised the draft somewhat. W.E. Chantell 24/4
1. I attach, as requested, a draft minute for you to send to the people mentioned in paragraph 4 of Mr Quantrill's minute of 17 October 1978, to discuss proposals for making funds available for maintenance of Government Houses.
2. I have talked to Mr Fry of ODM about this proposal and also mentioned Mr Duff's conversation with Mr Kirkness
wherein the sum of around £100000 was mentioned as a contribution from ODM. Mr Fry was astonished at this and said that he would speak to Mr Kirkness and get the ODM line on this before he attended the meeting.
