HONG KONG PENSION COMMITMENT
1. We sent a copy of Mr McLaren's letter of 6 July 1978 about Hong Kong's Pension Commitment. I now enclose copies of Mr Rowland's letters of 18 July and 7 November 1978 for your records. Mr McLaren has confirmed to Mr Rowlands that this is a subject for further discussion when next they meet.
2.
In April last, Mr West handed Mr Stewart (former Head of this department) an Aide Memoire giving estimated pension liabilities. I wonder whether it is possible for these esti- mates to be up-dated from any further material in your possession. The figures are conjectural and any firmer estimate of the potential commitment would be useful as a basis for Mr McLaren's next discussion.
