GOVERNORS PENSION SCHEME

1.

In my letter of 17 January, I wrote to you about a technical point arising out of the draft for the new Governors Pension Behemo (the implications of promotion in absentia for the salary to be taken in calculating the aggregated award under the FCSPS of an officer who had had DS service before governor's service); and 1 expressed the hope that it would be possible to set a firm and early date for the introduction of the new scheme. Not having heard further from you, I am wondering how matters stand. With the passage of time, the arguments for speedy introduction of the new scheme, which I touched on in paragraph 2 of my letter, are griving added force. It will, for instance, be very difficult for un bo delay.much longer a final decision on whether Sir Peter Ramsbothom should be seconded or transferred for his Governor's service; and it will be embarrassing for all of us if, in the event, it should turn out that the decision has been taken without allowing fully for the new arrangements in prospect.

I very much hope it will be possible for you to give us some early and re-assuring news about the progress of the new Governors' Jension Scheme.
