payable to him and to the beneficiary. If it is invalid, he will state the reasons

for this.

7.27 Where a Governor has been informed, in accordance with paragraph 7.26, that his allocation declaration is valid, the declaration will remain valid (unless he

cancels or amends it) even though a subsequent change in the amount or estimated amount of his pension means that the amount of pension allocated no longer complies with paragraph 7.6.

Cancellation or amendment of allocation declaration

7.28 A Governor who wishes to make an allocation under paragraph 7.1(a) and who lodges an allocation declaration with the Minister before the date on which his

pension is due to come into payment, may cancel or amend that declaration by notice in writing lodged with the Minister on the form provided for the purpose at any time before midnight on the day preceding that date. But subject to paragraph 7.29, he may not cancel or amend an allocation declaration after that time, nor cancel or

amend an allocation declaration lodged with the Minister on or after the date on which his pension comes into payment.

7.29 If a Governor is notified under paragraph 7.12 of a change in the provisional estimate of his pension, either less than 14 days before the closing date, or after the closing date but within six months of the date his pension came into payment, he may amend any valid allocation declaration that he has already made. He must do this by notice in writing lodged with the Minister on the form provided for the purpose before midnight of the fourteenth day after being so notified. However, an amendment under this paragraph may not be lodged with the Minister after the closing date if it increases or decreases the amount of pension to be allocated by an amount exceeding the increase or decrease (to the nearest pound) in the amount or estimated amount of his pension.

7.30 An amendment of an allocation declaration will not be valid if the amended declaration does not comply with the rules of this Section.

Effective date of allocation declaration

7.31 An allocation declaration will be null and void if either the Governor making the allocation or the beneficiary dies before midnight on the day on which the declaration is lodged with the Minister; in the case of an allocation under
