I.Zespective of the salary drawn in the tervitory, or as a Governor, a sterling amount is laid down from time to time as the maximum pension which can be drawn under the Act or drawn from other pensionable service and service as a Governor. I have not been informed of any increase in theamount laid down in the Statutory Instrument quoted in 1969, which stends at £5733 6s. 3d., this being 2/3 of £3600 the standard formula under Colonial Pensions Law for restricting pension to 2/3 of salary drawn. Here however the apparently arbitrary figure of £8600 maximum salary is used for the calculation instead of actual salary drawn.
Whereas a great deal has been done in recent years to codify the terms and conditions of Governors it is disturbing that whereas the pension increases for overseas and other pensioners are meticulously reviewed annually, the review of the Governor's Pensions Act and the basis for computing Governor's pensions have remained unresolved for so long.
