You asked to be brought up-to-date on where we now stand on the Governor's Pension Scheme. I am glad to say that some real progress has at last been made and it looks as though we may soon be able to bring the scheme into operation. At a meeting attended by representatives of the FCO, the CSD, and the ODM on 1 June, the CSD undertook to finalise arrangements for the scheme by the end of this month, subject to our providing a certain amount of further information. This was duly provided (my letter of 23 June to Mr Hawkins in the CSD), and I see no reason why the scheme should be further delayed. We shall speak to the CSD next week to find out whether they completed their work on target.
