Purpose
To bring the Force up to its approved strength.

To expand the School's capacity.

Progress made and present position
Rank and File recruitment so far has been satisfactory but there have been signs of a slackening off of response. The Rank and Bile strength of Police was 13938 on 1st April, 1976 and it was 14630, on 1st November, 1976. The target strength on 1st April, 1977 is 15225, recuiring an increase in strength of 595 bet- veen November 1st and the end of the financial year.
b) Inspectorate recruitment has been
unsatisfactory, with, in particular,
recruitment of local inspectors
being disappointing. An inspector- ate strength of 1426 on 1st April had risen to only 1450 by 1st November - 150 short of the target figure of 1600 by 1st April, 1977. Consider- ation is being given to ways of increasing the numbers coming for- ward as recruit inspectors.
Difficulties have arisen with regard to one of the private lots within the Dodwells Ridge Camp Site. Action is in hand to resume this lot. Refurbishing of the Dodwells Ridge site, and the selection of cadets for an intake to the Dodwells Ridge School on 31 Jan. are procedding satis- factorily. The project for a perm-
