Purpose
To reach agreement on the future requirements of vessels for policing Hong Kong waters.
To equip the Police Force with beat radios.
Progress made and
present position
Next quarter's target
replacement of vessels programme.
The Police are considering their Consider RN proposals and examine requirements in the light of Naval Police draft, ex^ansion and proposals for the replacement of their 5 patrol craft. A first draft of the Naval proposals has just been completed.
Difficulties have arisen over computor software and parts of the system will therefore be delayed, although other parts, including the radio system itself, will still be installed on the dates originally pronosed. Cutline agreement has been reached with supplier on the best methods to be used to minimise the delay.
Revised contract terms includ- ing agreed compensation rates
are under discussion. Installation will begin
shortly; the completed system
is expected to be fully functioning by August, 1977
Contract amendments to be finalised and equipment on H.K. Island to be fully installed.
