Following restructuring there will be 237 Personal Secretaries and 78 Senior Personal Secretaries; Personal Secretaries I will retain their present pay scale.

THE STRUCTURE FOR THE NEW GRADE OF SUPERVISOR OF TYPING SERVICES

The creation of the grade shall put into effect a recommendation for improving supervision within Departments of both stenographic and typing services. The recommendation was made both by the Assignment Team and the majority of Heads of Department.

Entrants to the grade are expected to be drawn principally from the grades of Stenographer and Personal Secretary. Supervisors of Typing Services shall be expected to possess, in addition to shorthand and typing skills of at least 90 and 50 w.p.m. respectively, considerable personal qualities for maintaining liaison with senior departmental officers, supervising and managing mixed pools of Stenographers and Typists and giving on-the-job training and advice to junior stenographic and typing staff.

Supervisors of Typing Services shall be mature officers with powers of leadership. Their Chinese and English shall be of a high standard. They shall be paid $2115 per month on entry on a 10 point career scale rising to a maximum of $3390.

THE STRUCTURE FOR THE GRADES OF PERSONAL ASSISTANT AND SOCIAL SECRETARY

The two grades contain only seven officers. They are senior grades with exacting and specialised duties. Only minor changes are required to align the two grades more closely with the other grades of the Secretarial Class.
