APPOINTMENTS DIVISION
Recruitment both local and overseas continued
at a very high rate. 333 posts within PSC's purview were
advertised locally between 1st August and 31st October.
On 31st October 279 posts were under recruitment overseas
(including 77 Police Inspectors). 172 newly appointed
officers (including 51 Police Inspectors) arrived from
overseas between 1st August and 31st October.

Recruitment to the rank and file of the Police
Force between 1.7.77 and 30.9.77 totalled 526. On 30.9.77,
there were 711 vacancies in the rank and file establishment

to 31st March 1978 is 1,074.

Since the scheme to re-deploy several hundred
surplus Government primary school teachers to other jobs
within the Education Department and other Government
departments was announced in July, a total of 1,664
applications for re-deployment within the Education Department
and 390 applications for transfer to grades in other
departments have been received from surplus primary school
teachers. As at 28th October 1977, 31 such teachers
had been recommended for appointment on transfer to other
