(b) The Civil Service Department's Management Services
Division
We have allocated one day for you at the MSD. (Curtis, who is hoping to develop the link between MSD and the CSC may well co-ordinate his programme at the MSD with that the CSC offer you.) Mr S Sears is making preliminary arrange- ments for your visit but would welcome more details of your specific interests to help him plan a full programme.
(0) The Property Services Agency in Croydon
Mr D Waymouth of Demos 1 is handling your visit to the PSA. I attach a copy of his letter. What he is proposing may be too ambitious in the time available but you may like to spend more time with the PSA than planned. Perhaps you would care to comment on his ideas?
(a) The Data Protection Committee
As you will see from his letter, Jordan is happy to meet you during your visit. Presumably he will then answer those of your queries which his letter does not touch on. (Incidentally, it appears to me that, irrespective of how Hong Kong sees the matter,, the whole subject of privacy may well require delicate handling for UK political reasons. As you are obviously aware, the computerization of personal data is an emotive and sensitive issue here. Have you thought of briefing Teddy Kidd on your ideas, just in case they, and criticism of them, break surface here?)
You will see that the CSC, MSD, PSA and DPC all want further details of dates and interests and, if you could let me have them soon, I will be happy to pass them on to them and co-ordinate a programme for you. Please let me know.
5. I shall unfortunately be on leave in September during your visit but I will look forward to seeing you during my visit to Hong Kong (in October?).
