I work with International Computers Ltd (ICL) as Government Relations Adviser and in this capacity I am arranging a programme of visits to UK Government Departments for Mr.Henry Ching, the Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Government. I have been advised to get in touch with you.
The Government Secretariat in Hong Kong have installed ICL computers and they are steadily expanding their use to support administration in the Colony. The Governor of Hong Kong (Sir Murray McLehose) asked the Chairman of ICL if he could help in the process of transition by arranging for senior officials to visit UK Government Departments where they could extend their knowledge of current management policy using automatic data processing techniques. Three officials, of which Mr.Ching is one, have had their usual leave in UK extended so that they can carry out this programme.
Mr.Ching is attending an ICL Senior Executive Programme at Hedsor Park on 8th and 9th September. I would then like him to visit HM Treasury on the morning of Monday 12th September. He would go on to the Inland Revenue in the afternoon. On 13th September he will be visiting the Civil Service Department (including CCA) and on 14th September the Department of Industry.
I would be most grateful if you could accept this proposed visit by Mr.Ching on Monday 12th September. I suggest that it should cover the period 10.30am to 12.30am. The aim of the visit would be to brief Mr. Ching
He would on aspects of Treasury Management in which computers are used. be interested in the range of use and how ADP is planned and developed.
