visit Property Services Agency, Croydon. I will earmark two whole days (starting at 10 a.m. on each day, if that suits P.S.A.). I am very happy to go along with the visits mentioned in Waymouth's letter to Upton of 30th June.
visit Jordan of Data Protection Committee a.m. on 15th September and Civil Service College p.m. on same day. Visit C.S.D.'s Management Services Division on 16th September.
The gap between these two "appearances" is
due to my attendance at a two-day computer briefing and three days visiting computer installations in Government departments, all arranged by I.C.L. I finally leave U.K. for Hong Kong on Friday, 23rd September.
Sears has asked for a better indication of my
interests, to help him plan my visit to C.S.D.'s Management Services Division. I am interested in the total organisation, as we are contemplating the expansion and role of Hong Kong's existing rather small Management Services Unit. How it is staffed, how do they develop the sort of skills required to conduct management reviews in departments, etc.? Has C.S.D. adopted any particular philosophy to guide its management training effort? To what extent are outside consultants used? Are there any advisory bodies (with
