71. On 3rd November, 1976, acting on information, Narcotics Bureau officers carried out a search of the m.v. 'Solar Continental Maru', berthed in Victoria Harbour. On the second day of the search the officers discovered morphine and heroin concealed in an inflatable emergency raft. The drugs comprised 18.717 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 15.309 kilogrammes of a salt of morphine, and 898 grammes of a mixture containing 421 grammes of salts of esters of morphine. No arrest was made in connection with the seizure.
72. The 'Solar Continental Maru' had been detained under a Court Order since being searched on 12th August by Preventive Service officers who discovered a quantity of narcotics on board (paragraph 41 refers). Both seizures are believed to be connected, and during the Narcotics Bureau's search indications were found to suggest that a further quantity of morphine had been removed by persons unknown since the original search of the vessel.
