60. On 22nd September, 1976, Thai female Nongluck PANGJAI was searched by Preventive Service officers on her arrival at Hong Kong Airport from Bangkok, resulting in the discovery of 1.5682 kilogrammes of prepared opium concealed in her underwear. PANGJAI was arrested and charged with Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking. She was sentenced to 6 months' imprisonment and fined HK$5,000.

61. On 28th September, 1976, Chinese males CHENG Cheung-kam (6774/7022/6835) and CHIU Hon (6392/3352) were searched by Preventive Service officers on their arrival at Hong Kong Airport from Bangkok. The officers discovered 6.563 kilogrammes of a mixture containing 3.1733 kilo- grammes of esters of morphine (partly manufactured heroin), 126 grammes of strychnine hydrochloride and 8.1 grammes of procaine hydrochloride tied to their abdomens and calves. They were both arrested and charged with Possession of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking. CHIU was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession Of A Part I Poison in respect of the strychnine and procaine which was in his possession. Both have been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court.

62. On 7th October, 1976, Singaporean females LAI Choi-lin (7812/1752/5571) and CHAN Soh-noi (c.n.a.) arrived at Hong Kong Airport from Singapore. A body search by Preventive Service officers revealed a total of 6.687 kilogrammes of prepared opium tied around their waists and calves. LAI and CHAN were both charged with Possession Of Dangerous Drugs For The Purpose Of Unlawful Trafficking, convicted and each sentenced to 34 years' imprisonment.
