HONG KONG: PRIME MINISTER'S QUESTION ON THE POLICE AMNESTY
1. I submit a draft answer to the priority written Parliamentary Question put down by Mr Robert Parry MP for answer by the Prime Minister on 24 November. I also submit a background note on the recent disturbances and a copy of the document referred to in the Question.
2. Mr Parry has tabled 93 Questions this year on Hong Kong, including 25 on the police disturbances, during the current session. He takes a keen interest in Hong Kong, which he has visited often. On his last visit, in September of this year, he was insulted in a restaurant by plain clothes European police officers. He has received an apology from the Commissioner of Police in Hong Kong for this incident and the officers in question have been severely reprimanded.
