I am replying to your letter of 3 May to David Owen about Mr Christopher Clements, of Kosgrave, near Ipswich, who faces a charge of murder in Hong Kong.

I have asked the Governor for a full report on this case and I shall write to you again as soon as I hear from him. In the mean time you will wish to know that the Mements has received two letters from hit polis since his remand in custody on 20 April. I apparently replied in a letter which was posted on 7 Tay. wist say that I consider it extremely unlikely that there would have hoon any deliberate intervention by the Hong Kong authorities. I do not know which address Mr Clements' parents are using but you uny wish to suggest to them that they write through his Solicitors, Messro Johnstone, Utokes and Mastor, Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank Building, long liêng
