You probably know that, at Teddy Kidd's suggestion, Mr Kenneth Weetch MP who holds Ipswich (for Labour) and thus has a seat adjoining Mr Keith Stainton's (Sudbury and Woodbridge), has been invited to
visit Hong Kong in October. He has told Teddy that Mr Stainton has
asked him to "keep an eye on the Clements case when he"in Hong Kong". Teddy's impression was that Mr Weetch was reluctant to undertake this mission and would be glad to find some way of getting out of it.' It might be helpful to him if, nearer the time of his visit to Hong Kong, we could let Mr Weetch have an up-to-date report of the case. I imagine that nothing will happen between now and the time that Clements comes up for trial but, if there are developments in the next few months, perhaps you could let me know and I will pass them on to Teddy with background drawn from our own papers.
