Mr. Sceats: Ippose this most strongly. Your Honour has been asked for adjournment and new trial. As to adjournment names that have been added to the charge are names of persons who have been in the periphery of this conspiracy in the sense that essence of charge before this Court is that there was an unlawful combination between police officers to obstruct the course of public justice and to act contrary to their duty as police officers and in rolation to the administration of the law. Names given are names of persons who have assisted police officers in central theme of charge. It merely fills out cast of persons who did assist accused and other named police officers. Before amendment was made, evidence was given and shows how assistance was given. Evidence given by other named persons equally show how these persons were connected to the conspiracy. This mercly fills out existing charge and does not in any way make a new charge from the charge we began.

From summary of evidence prosccution has given a considerable distance in leading evidence of collection of money. Remainder of Crown case will be in relation to sundry metters linking the 2 accused to money referred to as having come from these enterprises. No new matter for defence asking for extended adjournment to investigato.
Documents have been supplied to Defence and a considorable number of documents are before the Court. Do not know if any substantial matters which would arise in course of this trial which have not been set out in summary of evidence. No real justification for extended adjournment or for a new trial to be commenced.
Mr. Gunston: 16 new names have been added to chargo and to make a substantial amendment way through trial. My friend suggests application should be in alternative apply for adjournment or for new trial. If new
trial is granted it would not start tomorrow.
