What did you understand request was?
To go to see 2 solicitors.
Mr. Sceats: Before adjournment matters were said by Mr. Hampton to be
accusatory of him. That was not my intention. What I said was that
matters put to witness should be clear and he should know exactly what questions were put to him. Very briefly on 23/10 I wrote a letter both
to Gunston & Chow and Hampton & Winter the last para of which was in
following terms: "Pursuant to judge's order should you wish to exercise
interview witnesses would you please contact writer." Following day
I wrote a further letter to both firms of solicitors suggesting
if 2 of them liaise together to interview Crown witnesses so that
the witness could be interviewed either by solicitors jointly or in
separate interviews. Letter crossed letter from Gunston & Chow
to interview 1st ten witnesses in summary of evidence. Also asked to say what arrangements I envisaged for that purpose. Reply sent by me on 25/10 referring to fact that my letter of previous date had
