for such extended periods of time. Criminal element of operations of syndicate throughout 2 years period regular purchases of

banker's drafts to mumbered accounts in United Kingdom, different

banks are used sometimes different branches of same banks

at

different times and by different persons applying to purchase these drafts. The drafts purchased were made payable to same group of numbered accounts at same branches of banks in United Kingdom within

this period. These numbered bank accounts, Crown alleges linked the

2 accused to this corruption conspiracy. 3 numbered bank accounts

controlled by 1st Accused. One of those was in Barclays Bank in

Leeds, one of those was in Barclays Bank at Old Trafford, Manchester

and 3rd, Westminster National Bank at Bakewell, Derbyshire. 1st Accused

has a geographical connection with these 3 areas in United Kindgom and

signed authority by him to his Hong Kong Bank - Hongkong and Shanghai

Banking Corporation to which his official emoluments wore paid ·

directing same bank to remit money to same numbered bank account in

Leeds. No direct evidence that 1st Accused maintained National

Westminster account at Bakewell. On 4 days on which banker's drafts

were purchased in Hong Kong made payable to that numbered account at

the same bank and on same day drafts were purchased to accounts which

Crown alleged were of 2nd Accused. On 2 days when drafts were purchased

for numbered account in Leeds drafts were also purchased for numbered

account in National Westminster Bank and on 2 other occasions drafts

were purchased at same bank and same day for National Westminster

account when drafts were also purchased for Barclays Bank at Old

Trafford. These 2 occasions were after 2nd Accused left Bay View

Police Station. Barclays account at Old Trafford, 3 banker's drafts

payable to the person called C.J.M. Cunningham's account,

Barclays

Bank at Old Trafford. In addition drafts pruchased 3 days in Barclays

at Old Trafford. sand day as when drafts were purchased for 2nd Accused.
