As far as 1st Defendant is concerned he is serving police officer of 23 years service - 31/3 ho Was due to procecâ on leave prior to retirement he has decided to travel this year. His passport was seized in accordance with Prevention of Eribery Ordinance for 6 months and expiry of thet period passport returned to him and was in possession of it until he was arrested. No desire or intention on part of accused to abscond from the Colony whatsoever. Bail in the amount set by learned magistrate would be appropriate to ensure accused to appear for trial.

2nd Defendant is also Superintendent of Police aged ould like to apply for bail for 2nd Defendant. If there is a very substantial increase in amount he may well find difficulty in securing it. His salary was about $6,000 per month.

He was arrested on 6th August when he was put on his om surety of $5,000 and he has reported as required ever since.
