reached the following agreement (hereafter referred to as
"the agreement"): LEUNG would allow himself to be
arrested on the understanding that he was to be charged
with wounding or affray only and that he would go to
prison for not more than two years, that LAU Cheong-
wah would give (and did immediately rive) him $10,000 in cash for the maintenance of his family (7)

that LAW Ming-tak would continue to pay his wages to his
parents whilst he was in prison, that no further Police
action would be taken against LAW ling-tak and his people,
and that LAU Cheong-wah would find employment for LEUNG
on his release from prison. At the meeting, or shortly
before or after that, LW Ming-tak also undertook to
engage legal representation for LEUNG's defence and to
pay all legal fees. It was within the contemplation of
all concerned that the lawyers were to help LEUNG obtain
an acquittal.
(4) LEUNG Wing-sang ngrood to his arrest for the
following reasons
(1) He knew that he had been identified.
(2) He also now that the police would probably find him
sooner or later.
(3) He wanted to help LAW Ming-tak and his people out
of loyalty to his employer and fellow members of
the 14K, of which he himself was a member. (4) He thought he was involved in a relatively minor offence of wounding or affray for which the term
of imprisonment would be not more than two years. (5) He was paid $10,000 for his sacrifice : this sum
must have meant much to him as his family was poor and he was the sole breadwinner, both his parents and his brother being in poor health.
(6) LAW Ming-tak would continue to pay his wages to
his parents.
(7) LAU Cheong-wah had promised to find him employment
on his release from »rison.
