their unsuccessful raid at LEUNG Wing-sang's home
(see below), LAU's informer told him that one CHAN
Loi-fat was able to give the Police information as
to LEUNG's whereabouts. Accordingly a meeting took place at the Tai Loi Restaurant (*) in (酒家)边 the evening between LAU, LAU's subordinate Sergeant
YIP Yin, CHAN Loi-fat and the informer. At the
meeting CHAN said, among other things, that he was
LEUNG's friend and that LEUNG had been hiding at his (CHAN's) place since the incident at the Cactus
Apartment House. There was also some discussion about
an informer's fec of several thousand dollars, though
no decision was made as to the precise amount. CHAN
promised to telephone LAU Cheong-wah later to tell
him where LEUNG could be found. After the meeting
LAU made a report of it to his superior officer Detective Divisional Inspcotor MOK Sau-tin(T),
who intimated that ho would want to take part in the
arrest. LAU also told Sergeant YIP Yin and Detective Constable WAN Chi (
) to stand by.
At about 12.30 a.m. the same night CHAN Loi-fat tele-
phoned LAU and said that he was coming to Wanchai
Police Station. When CHAN arrived, Inspector MOK, LAU,
CHAN, YIP Yin and WAN Chi set out in two cars for
Hunghom, with CHAN giving directions as to the exact
location, which was a place outside the Lux Theatre, (P), Bulkeley Street, Hunghom. On arrival they saw a man thore, identified by CHAN Loi-
fat as LEUNG. The Police then arrested him.
