Thank you for your letter HKK 380/2 of 19th May.
I was glad to learn that you agree that any comment on Mrs. Elliott's letter to various MPs should be deferred until we have replied to the submission to the Governor from the ad hoc committee.
I now enclose a copy of the letter to the Governor which, as you will see, is very similar to the letter sent to the MPs. We are still in the process of putting together a reply and, as I said earlier, this may take some little time.
You will be interested to learn that we have now received a further letter from Mrs. Elliott advising that it has been decided not to bring forward the new witness whom they said earlier would be able to throw new light on this case. To keep you fully in the picture, I enclose a copy of this letter to which we have sent an interim reply asking for a copy of the data that has been collected so that this can be examined before the Governor decides what further action may be appropriate.
