An Ordinance to amend the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance.

[18th March, 1977]

Enacted by the Governor of Hong Kong, with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council thereof.

1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Interpretation and General Short title. Clauses (Amendment) Ordinance 1977.

Section 3 of the principal Ordinance is amended by deleting Amendment of the definitions of "standard time" and "summer time".

3. Sections 67 and 68 of the principal Ordinance are repealed and Repeal and replaced by the following new section-

“Hong Kong Time.

67. (1) Whenever any expression of time occurs in any Ordinance the time referred to is Hong Kong Time.

(2) For the purposes of subsection (1), "Hong Kong Time" means the time used for general purposes through- out Hong Kong namely, 8 hours, or such other period as may be determined by the Legislative Council by resolution, in advance of Greenwich Mean Time.

(3) A resolution of the Legislative Council under sub-. section (2) may determine Hong Kong Time for the whole or part of a year.

(4) Nothing in this section shall affect the use of Greenwich Mean Time for the purposes of astronomy, meteorology, navigation or aviation, or affect the construc- tion of any document mentioning or referring to a point of time in connexion with any of these purposes.".
