No 166
RESUMPTION OF PORTION OF KWUN TONG INLAND LOT
535 KNOWN AS SECTION A. JUNCTION OF WAI YIP
STREET AND LAI YIP STREET, KWUN TONG
44
Following the improvement of the road junction at Wai Yip Street and Lai Yip Street, a small section of Kwun Tong Inland Lot 535 is required to widen part of the existing footpath.
2
The present arrangement at the north-western corner of this junction allows only a very narrow foot-path between KTIL 535 and Wai Yip Street. Pedestrians are required to pass in single file between the site and the pedestrian barrier causing them to walk into the road. The Police consider this to be a traffic hazard and it is accordingly necessary to acquire a small section of the lot to enable the present foot-path to be widened,
3
Negotiation to acquire the land by agreement has not been possible as the lot is owned by 17 co-owners in 26 shares.
4
The area to be resumed, known as Section A of Kwun Tong Inland Lot 535 and comprising 28. 5m2, is shown coloured beige hatched black on the attached plan. The total lot area is 1,055m2 and is held on Conditions of Sale for a term of 99 years less 3 days from 1st July 1898.
5
The area to be resumed is clear of structures and is used for storage purposes in connection with the industrial/godown building erected on the remainder of the site. No demolition of buildings or rehousing are involved and only the removal of the exist- ing boundary fence is required. Compensation for land resumption, removal of the fence and accommodation works is estimated to cost in the region of $50, 000 and funds are available within the approved estimate for street widening projects.
6
Honourable Members will be asked to advise, under section 3 of the Crown Lands Resumption Ordinance (Chapter 124), whether the resumption of the portion of Kwun Tong Inland Lot
